About Triangle of Tribute

In September 2026, it will be 82 years since the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division landed in the Nijmegen region as part of Operation Market Garden. Their arrival marked the beginning of the liberation of the region. In the autumn of 1944, fierce fighting took place in the triangular area between Grave, Groesbeek and Nijmegen.

With the Triangle of Tribute project, we are marking — quite literally — the names of 82 soldiers at the locations where they lost their lives. They represent all the soldiers who fell in the fight for our freedom. Together, these locations form a triangle of remembrance and tribute.
